07 Aug Amsterdam, Valkenburgerstraat 186
Address: Valkenburgerstraat 186, Amsterdam
In 1830 the Matze bakery “De Haan” was established here. After the Nazi occupation some 40 boys – most of them coming from Oostelijke Handelskade 12 – were moved into the floor above the bakery in early June of 1940. Circumstances were not very good though, so the last of the boys moved out in October of 1940. Most of them went to the “Jongenshuis” in Arnhem.
Currently there are apartments here: the original building was demolished.
